Your business needs a podcast

1. The What

In an age where there are thousands, if not millions of businesses in the same niche, the best way to make your business stand out is the most unique thing about it: You.

You see, no matter how much you work on the ideation, the branding, the logo, the marketing, the product, it’s almost certain that there are other businesses that are doing the same thing, if not better.

But being yourself is the one thing that nobody else on Earth can do.

So, how do you capitalize on this individuality? Through showing your character, in its most genuine, raw and natural state, and there’s no better medium for that than podcasts.

2. The Why

We see everyone rushing to either start a podcast, or to be on as many podcasts as possible, because the reels just aren’t cutting it. Yes, they’re enjoyable, yes, they go viral, and yes, they’re brilliant marketing, but you just cannot show the full picture in a span of 15 seconds to 1 minute.

That full picture is key to portraying your individuality, as we human beings get to know each other through complex conversations, jumping from small talk to philosophical ideas to “What you up to tonight?” to “This is my biggest fear, please don’t judge me”

That’s how we bond, and it’s beautiful.

3. The How

So, as previously mentioned, we have 2 options here.

You can either go the easy, short-term route, which is appearing on other people’s podcasts to talk about yourself and your business.

Easy, because you don’t need any professional filming equipment, nor do you need to rent a production studio, and you save yourself a lot of effort.

Short-term, because there’s only so many podcasts you can go on before people lose interest in hearing the same story.

The second option, which we prefer, is much harder but very rewarding on the long run, and it is to start your own podcast.

It is hard, because you either need to set up a production studio in your own home, or you need to work with a content creation studio or a media production agency, not to mention finding guests, setting up the episodes, and everything in-between.

But it’s extremely rewarding long-term, and we experienced the benefits firsthand, as Hikmat, the owner and founder of W Studio, started his own podcast a few years ago, the Hikmat Wehbi Podcast, and this is what happened:

  • He marketed his production house through the podcast, as it naturally came up during the conversations: “We do video production in Dubai”, and this has driven a lot of work towards our company.
  • He gained credibility in the industry, gaining people’s trust. It’s quite simple: If you can create a successful podcast, then you can give me a good product.
  • He hosted a lot of influencers and celebrities, which widened his network, and now, we regularly work with a lot of his previous guests.

So, it’s really a no-brainer. Podcasts are a weapon of mass-marketing, available for each and every one of us. Whether you choose to start your own, or to appear on other people’s podcasts, please, just do it. Your business will thank you later.
