How to choose the right production house for you

Social media engagement is the 2024 currency for all sorts of businesses, and there’s only one way to gain that currency: Content.

But what is business content? It’s the modern way of saying “Hey there, this is what we do, and this is who we are”, which actually means “I hope you purchase my products/services”

Sneaky, yet ethical and highly effective.

So how do you create this content? Preferably, through a content production studio, which provides professional filming equipment and a trained crew of directors and photographers, who know exactly what it takes to catch the fleeting eyes of social media users.

Now, how do you choose the best photo or video production agency? Let’s go through the choosing process together.

1. Define the type of content you want to make

Naturally, business content will differ between one business model and another, so the first step is defining the content your business needs. Do you sell clothes? Then you need to make fashion content. Jewelry? Cinematic close-ups of your pieces is what you’re looking for. Are you a lawyer making his way up in the world? Then you need a corporate video production house, where you’d sit in front of a camera and let the world know how good of a speaker you are.

2. Look for the right portfolio

Now that we’ve decided on the nature of content we want, we need to dig through the portfolios of production houses, mainly through Google and Instagram. Let’s say you’re in the UAE. Search on Google for “Video production houses in Dubai”, or simply “Content creation studio near me”, and you’ll find a long list of suggestions. Now, skim through their content on Instagram, as production agencies usually share their work on their Instagram profiles. According to the content you need, find a production house that has created similar content, and hit them up.

3. Check for reviews

After you find a few content production agencies which suit your content needs, check for user reviews on Google. Pro tip: check for brands, business or clients who have worked on several content campaigns with the same production studio. A production house with repeat clients is a reflection of high quality content production.

4. Book meetings

After you’ve filtered down to a couple production studios, book a meeting with them and check out their studios. Feel the studio’s vibe, and the team’s energy and expertise. Check their equipment and make sure it’s up to date. Ask them about timelines for the projects you have, and how long the post-production will take. And of course, discuss the pricing, which will differ from one production house to another.

Most importantly, choose a production house that gives you the space to create content that resonates with you and your brand. Don’t just copy what other businesses are creating, as you can only succeed in the content sphere by being as unique and as authentic as possible.
