How to Stay Relevant on Social Media

We’ve seen endless creators who came into the social media scene, got a few million views, and then faded out into irrelevancy. On the other hand, we’ve seen many creators who’ve gained and sustained their fame for many years.
So what’s the differentiating factor here? What’s this relevancy sauce that many people haven’t figured out yet? As the production house behind one of the biggest podcasts in the UAE, the Hikmat Wehbi Podcast, we’ve managed to keep our podcast relevant for a long time now. So, here’s our take.

1- Be interesting

You see, being interesting is a skill to be acquired, not something we’re born with. Being knowledgeable about different topics, and being charismatic in your delivery of that knowledge attracts both real-life friends as well as social media followers.

So, how does one become interesting? Through developing skills and mastering different aspects of life, and through reading and acquiring knowledge and ideas. This richness in your character will radiate through those reels you post, which will in turn intrigue new people to follow you, and keep your already-existing followers hooked to your daily content.

2- Keep up with the trends

We would all love to pave our own way and ignore what everyone else is doing, but unfortunately, that rarely works out for anyone. You need to keep up with the latest news and double down on content discussing those news. Whether it’s the latest tech breakthroughs, or that one series that everyone is talking about, create content about it. And speaking of creating content-

3- Create a LOT of content

3.7 million videos are uploaded to YouTube every day. 95 million photos and videos are uploaded to Instagram every day. Uploading one reel per week is definitely not going to cut it in such a huge traffic, so you need to increase your odds and aim for daily content. How do you come up with new content? We’ve made an article to help you with that – How to come up with new content

4- Keep up with the Quality

Everyone says that content creation can be done cheap, using just a smartphone and a neck mic, and that’s absolutely true. However, when we’re talking about relevancy, we’re talking about standing out from the competition, and guess what? Your competition is upping the video and sound quality, and the audiences simply cannot resist their crispy clear, soothing content.

We recommend you work with a content creation studio to help you out with your social media production, to provide you with some professional video editing, along with a nice sound design to get those audiences engaged.

Another option would be to set up your own in-house production house, but you would still benefit from working temporarily with a video production agency to learn the ins and outs of content production and post production.

We hope this helps you out to keep your relevancy and become a household name for years to come. Happy creating!
